How do we know that Hell is located in the Earth? Does the Bible say this?
Every time the BIble discusses the holding place for the spirits of unbelievers, it speaks of a place "in the earth" and "below" us. For example, consider this OT reference to the place of the ungodly after death (called Sheol in the OT):
Notice these men were sent to Hell, and they went "down" and the earth "closed over them." These are clear indications that Hell is below our feet. Likewise, every other reference to death and the afterlife in the Old Testament indicates that the holding place for the dead is below our feet in the earth.
In the New Testament, Jesus was said to go down when He went into the grave:
Jesus descended into the lower parts of the earth, Paul says.
Remember, scientists might dispute our Biblical view, but in reality they have no idea what exists in the center of the earth. We've never penetrated more than a few miles into the Earth's crust. Based on the word of God, Hell (or Hades) is below our feet.
